7 DAY DEMO - Anatomy and Spatiality of the Veterinary Abdominal Point of Care Ultrasound

About this course:
This demo module is a collaborative effort between Kevin Hannon, PhD, and Aimee Brooks, DVM, MS, DACVECC.

Focused ultrasound examinations are increasingly used as extensions of the physical examination in the emergency setting. POCUS findings help direct immediate patient stabilization efforts, and serial studies can be used to monitor hospitalized patients. This module aims to visualize the anatomy seen in a veterinary point-of-care ultrasound: POCUS. It is not a complete diagnostic abdominal ultrasound that evaluates the entire abdomen but a primer for new learners to use before they start POCUS.

3D segmentations, CT scans, and ultrasound scans show the anatomy and spatiality of a canine POCUS and highlight how to focus on identifying the presence of fluid (effusion) within the peritoneal, pleural, pericardial, and retroperitoneal spaces.

The full course allows 12 months of access and can be used as a refresher or resource in addition to an introduction to optimal scanning. Instructors have access to downloadable student progress files via .csv.
For students, it allows them to use a self-paced tour of the material and re-visit the scans and quizzes as many times as they want to solidify their understanding.

If you are an instructor, please examine the Overall Final Summary of Demo Module on the main lessons page; it has more information, practical instruction tips, and student feedback.
